  • What should I wear?
We invite you to embrace the relaxed elegance of Beach Cocktail attire. This allows for a blend of sophistication and beach vibes, perfect for our coastal celebration. Feel free to express your personal style with any colors that resonate with your beachy spirit. However, we kindly ask that you refrain from wearing the wedding party colors to prevent any confusion. Given the hot and humid weather, we recommend lightweight and breathable fabrics to keep cool and comfortable throughout the day and into the evening. As we'll be enjoying a sunset wedding that extends into the night, you may also want to consider bringing a light wrap or jacket for when the temperature cools down. We've included some inspirational photos to guide you, but remember, this is merely a suggestion, and we want you to feel comfortable and confident in your attire. We can't wait to celebrate with you in style!

  • How is money handled in Colombia?
Money in Colombia is primarily handled in Colombian Pesos (COP$). As of April 9, 2024, the conversion rate is approximately COP3770:USD1, though rates may vary. It's advisable to carry cash for daily transactions, as credit cards are widely accepted in most restaurants and cafes, but may not be usable for smaller purchases like taxis or souvenirs. Upon arrival, you can exchange USD dollars for Colombian Pesos at exchange houses, locally known as "Casa de Cambio." Alternatively, you can withdraw Colombian Pesos from ATMs, with Bancolombia being a recommended bank for this purpose. Remember to keep cash on hand for convenience during your stay.
  • How do I get around?
Getting around Cartagena is best done using ride-sharing services like Uber. We don't recommend renting a car due to the sometimes chaotic traffic (trust us, it can rival Manila!), and Uber provides a convenient and affordable option for transportation. During our time here, we found Uber to be reliable and cost-effective, with rides typically costing us around 13,000 COP ($3.50 USD). However, please note that rates may vary due to inflation and other factors, so it's a good idea to check closer to your travel dates for the most accurate pricing.
  • What is the tipping culture like in Colombia?
In Colombia, tipping is not typically obligatory, but it's welcomed. In smaller cafes, restaurants, and taxi rides, rounding up to the nearest thousand pesos is customary. In upscale dining establishments, a 10-15% gratuity might be automatically included in your bill.
  • Are there any specific vaccinations recommended before traveling to Colombia?
Both the CDC and WHO recommend several vaccinations for travel to Colombia, including hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, yellow fever, rabies, meningitis, polio, measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis), chickenpox, shingles, pneumonia, influenza, and COVID-19. However, it's important to note that these are typically vaccinations you may already have received as part of standard immunization protocols.
